Make A Cucumber Martini

A traditional martini is a savory, salty cocktail primarily flavored with green olives. Although a wide variety of flavored martinis are available, they tend to be sweet and fruity. If you want a flavored martini that falls between the salty and sweet, become your own bartender and whip up a cucumber martini. Cucumber martinis have a less severe taste than other flavored martinis, but still provide a mild, yet refreshing flavor with just a few ingredients.

Instructions

1. Slice off a two-inch piece from a cucumber and set aside the remaining cucumber for additional martinis. Drag a vegetable peeler across the entire surface of the cucumber skin until all of the skin is removed, then set the peel aside.

2. Cut your peeled cucumber piece in half lengthwise and use a spoon to scoop out the seeds. Chop the cucumber into 1/4 inch pieces, and add them into a food processor. Squeeze in the juice from half a lemon and pour in 1-1/2 oz. of vodka.

3. Process the ingredients until the cucumbers are broken down and smooth and the rest of the ingredients are evenly combined. Position a strainer over a bowl and pour the contents of the food processor into the strainer. Discard the thick chunks from the strainer.

4. Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Transfer the liquid from the bowl underneath the strainer into the cocktail shaker. Secure the shaker's lid tightly and shake the container briskly about five times.

5. Remove the shaker's lid and pour the contents into a martini glass. Slice a one-inch piece from the peel you set aside earlier and place it directly into the martini as a garnish.
