Directions For Farina

Cooked farina is usually served with milk and sugar for breakfast.

More likely than not you have eaten farina in the form of a hot porridge cereal on a cold winter morning. Farina is more commonly known by the names of top brand companies that make it. The quick-cooking ground wheat cereal comes enriched with B vitamins and is a good source of carbohydrates and protein. Although most commonly made to eat as a hot cereal, farina has other uses, such as helping quick-bread dough cook faster and extending ground meat mixtures. Farina is best cooked in a pot on the stove.

Instructions

1. Boil 3 cups of water on the stove in a pot. Add 1 tsp. of salt to the water.

2. Start stirring the water when it begins to boil and slowly add 1 cup of farina into the water. Pour the farina in very slowly, just a little bit at a time, stirring constantly.

3. Continue stirring the farina once you have added all of it into the water. Reduce the heat to low.

4. Cook for 5 to 8 minutes, stirring frequently until the farina reaches the desired thickness. Pour into a bowl and serve hot.
