Keep Peeled Pears Fresh

Keep peeled pears fresh for several days in a refrigerator.

If you've peeled and sliced more pears than you can eat right away, you can keep them fresh for a few days in your refrigerator. Instead of discarding the extra peeled pears, save them for future snacks. You can also enjoy the peeled pears as a vanilla ice cream topping or in a fresh fruit salad. Peeled pears brown quickly when exposed to air, so prepare them for storage properly to keep them their natural white color.

Instructions

1. Cut the peeled pears into quarters and remove their cores with a paring knife.

2. Make a salt solution to keep the peeled pears from turning brown. Combine 1 1/2 tsp. of salt with 1 qt. of cold water in a mixing bowl. Place the pear slices into the solution and allow them to soak for one hour.

3. Remove the pears from the salt solution and place them into a plastic storage container.

4. Secure an airtight lid onto the container to keep the pears from drying out or absorbing refrigerator odors.

5. Store the pears in a refrigerator for three to four days.
