Ronco Compact Showtime Rotisserie Instructions

For 50 years, Ronco has produced home kitchen wares and appliances, including the Ronco Compact Showtime Rotisserie. The machine is large enough to roast two 5-lb. chickens, as well as fish, turkey and other meats, with little mess and none of the hazards -- or hassles -- of a spit erected over an open fire.

Instructions

1. Rinse the chicken in warm water, dry it with paper towels and clear the cavity of giblets and other organs. Trim off any excess fat or skin. Use the Ronco rotisserie elastic food ties (or butcher's twine) to tie down the legs and wings of the chicken.

2. Position the chicken over the spit rods and lower the chicken onto the sharp tips, making sure its weight is evenly distributed. Attach the other gear wheel to the other end of the spit rods after loading the meat on the spit tips. Load the spit rod assembly in the "Rest" position of the rotisserie and then slide it into the cooking position. Close the door. Turn the switch to "Normal Rotation." Adjust the timer in relation to the size of the chicken; for example, 1 hour for a 4 lb. chicken.

3. Home-cooked rotisserie chicken requires few steps for preparation.

Keep the chicken warm, after it has finished cooking, by turning the three-position switch to "Heat Rotation." Wear a sturdy oven mitt or barbecue gloves when you are ready to remove the spit rod from the rotisserie. Slide the chicken off the rod and serve on a platter.
