Simple Candy Gift Crafts

Candy crafts make delicious personalized gifts.

An edible gift can please almost anyone. It's a generic present that can be given to any age and for any occasion. In fact, it becomes even more significant and meaningful if created by hand. By making your own candy gift, you can personalize it for a specific individual or group. Easy to create with a variety of homemade candy, the lucky recipients can have several kinds of goodies or just one favorite. Theme gifts around holidays or individual tastes.

Candy Cane Centerpiece

This is a festive gift for the Christmas season. Using a tall glass or jar (the more elegant, the better), place the curved end of the candy canes in the top of the glass, so they are resting on the outside, with the curves facing in. Completely cover the outside of the glass with candy canes using this method, until there is no more room to drape them. Tie a large red or green ribbon around the middle of all the candy canes, to keep them together. Add a bow for a classy touch.

Candy Bouquet

Use candy that comes on sticks, such as lollipops or bubble gum pops, to make an edible bouquet. Utilize an ordinary garden pot or opaque vase and fill it with a fitted square of floral Styrofoam. Place the sticks into the Styrofoam, leaving 1 or 2 inches of the stick showing above the foam. Arrange them in a pattern or place them randomly around the pot. Spread shredded paper or other packing material around the top of the Styrofoam to hide the foam. This is an edible alternative to a bouquet of flowers as a gift.

Edible Rosebuds

Rosebuds are a common gift during Valentine's Day, however, they are not commonly edible. Filled with chocolate, these roses are a simple and delicious craft. Simply take a wooden skewer or chopstick and cover it with green floral tape. Take two Hershey's Kisses and place them bottom to bottom. Wrap them in pink or red cellophane and tape the clear wrapping with clear packing tape so it does not come apart. Place one point at the top of the skewer and wrap tape around it to attach it to the skewer and make it look like a genuine bud. Create a bunch of these to look like a bouquet or just give one as a gift.

Marshmallow Shapes

By using gourmet marshmallows, edible shapes can be formed which are a delicious addition to hot chocolate or eaten on their own. From snowmen to trains, marshmallows can be fitted together with just toothpicks to make a variety of shapes. Add details with melted chocolate. Keep the marshmallows in cellophane until ready to give them away.
