Bake Canned Yams

Instead of peeling yams and boiling them on the stovetop, canned yams can be used to save both time and effort. Baked yams, commonly known as candied yams, include ingredients such as sugar and butter which combined create a sweet dish. Baking the canned yams in the oven, with a few added ingredients, gives them a lots of flavor, a golden brown color and a crispy texture. Once you finish baking the yams, they can be served as a side dish with your favorite meal.

Instructions

1. Heat the oven to 400 degrees F.

2. Open the can of yams. Drain the yams in a colander and pour them into a blender. Blend the yams into a smooth texture, similar to mashed potatoes.

3. Pour the yams into a medium baking dish. Cut butter into small pieces and place over the yams.

4. Sprinkle 1/2 cup of brown sugar over the yams. Pour 1 1/2 cups of miniature marshmallows over the brown sugar.

5. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Remove the yams when they are tender and the marshmallows have melted completely and have turned a rich brown color.
