Slow Cooked Corned Beef For Sandwiches

Let your slow cooker do the work for tasty corned beef.

Slow cookers are particularly handy for cooking meats. It usually takes just a few minutes to prepare the meat, and then it's just a matter of putting it in the slow cooker and waiting until it's done. Cooking on low heat for a long period of time produces tender, moist meat suitable for just about any dish -- especially sandwiches. Try this simple, tasty recipe to produce mouth-watering corned beef for sandwiches at your house.

Instructions

1. Rub your corned beef roast with the seasoning from the packet that comes with the roast. If your roast doesn't come with a packet (unlikely, but possible), you can create the spice rub by combining the following ingredients: 18 whole cloves; 1 tsp. whole yellow mustard seeds; 1/2 tsp. whole black peppercorns; 1/2 tsp. caraway seeds; 1/2 tsp. whole coriander.

2. Place your brisket in the slow cooker. Cut the roast in two or three pieces if need be to make it fit.

3. Pour the beer or cola over the roast.

4. Cover and cook on low heat for 4 to 5 hours. When the roast is done, discard the cooking liquid and let the meat rest for 10 minutes or so before slicing it into thin strips.
