Identify Glutenfree Grains

Identifying gluten-free grains can be difficult because one may not know where and what to be looking for. Gluten-free products are generally devoid of gluten breads like wheat, rye, barley, oats and even the gluten agent that is known for thickening and flavoring foods, among others. However, there are ways to identify if the grains you are consuming are gluten-free.

Instructions

1. Be careful when consuming grains like breads, cereals, crackers, pasta, deserts, gravies or even sauces. The listed items are most likely to contain gluten, like the different kinds of wheat, barley, rye, bulgur, Kamut, matzo meal, kasha, spelt and triticale.

2. Choose grains that are made with corn, rice or soy. These items are gluten-free and are diverse enough to be made into grain-like products.

3. Pick items that specifically have "gluten-free" on the outside packaging. At your speciality food stores, you can find aisles of bread or grain products that do not contain gluten.

4. Bake from mixes that do not contain gluten. Gluten-free baking mixes are available online or in speciality food stores. Gluten-free baking recipes are even available at the book store or online as well.
