Smoke Pork Chops On Gas Smoker

Gas smokers are easy to use and convenient. Gas smokers do not require a lot of cleaning, and vertical gas smokers are typically set up to smoke meats with just a press of a button. Pork chops are easy to smoke in a gas smoker. Choosing to brine the chops, use water in the smoker, or add wood chips will greatly enhance the flavor of the pork chops. Smoked pork chops are easy to make and require a minimal amount of preparation.

Instructions

1. Create a brine mixture for the pork chops. Dissolve ¾ cup of salt with 1 gallon of water. Allow the pork chops to soak in the brine mixture for no longer than 6 hours. The brine will help improve the texture and moisture of the chops.

2. Place a drip pan under the smoker grid. This will catch the fat that will fall off the pork chops.

3. Set the gas smoker to cook at a temperature of 225 degrees Fahrenheit. Allow the smoker to reach this temperature before continuing.

4. Place 2 cups of soaked wood chips in the smoker box. Allow the chips to begin smoking before placing the pork chops in the smoker.

5. Add water to the water pan. Fill the pan at least halfway with water to help keep the pork chops moist while they cook in the gas smoker.

6. Remove the pork chops from the brine mixture. Place the pork chops on the smoker with tongs. Ensure that you place the chops in indirect heat. The indirect heat allows the pork chops to smoke at a lower temperature, providing you with a slow-cooked flavor.

7. Close the smoker's lid. Smoke the pork chops until they reach a temperature of at least 160 degrees Fahrenheit. The pork chops usually take 4 to 6 hours in a smoker, depending on their size and thickness.

8. Remove the pork chops when they are finished smoking. Serve the chops with your favorite side dishes.
