Baptism Brunch Ideas

Celebrate your child's baptism with a brunch for family and friends.

After a baby's baptism, gather together family and friends to celebrate the little one's big day. A simple brunch at home is a casual and relaxed way to honor this special moment in your baby's life. Choose from a bevy of brunch recipes, and offer your guests a range of options, from breakfast casseroles to made-to-order omelets and fresh fruit.

Casseroles

Casseroles are ideal for feeding a crowd, and there is no shortage of tasty brunch casserole recipes to choose from. A traditional brunch casserole includes eggs, sausage or bacon, bread and cheese. Casseroles are perfect party food because you can make them in advance and refrigerate them overnight, meaning you simply need to pop them in the oven before the party begins. A quiche is another brunch alternative; choose your favorite ingredients, such as bacon and zucchini.

Omelet Station

If you have a cook who's willing to operate an omelet station early in the brunch, then you can offer your guests made-to-order omelets. With a couple of skillets, a few dozen eggs and a variety of toppings, you can whip up all types of omelets for your guests. Include a couple of varieties of cheese, vegetable toppings like peppers, onions and mushrooms, and precooked meats such as bacon and sausage.

Fruit

Fruit is a light and healthy side dish perfect for brunch. Choose in-season fruits to create a fruit salad. Or try eye-catching fruit kabobs, featuring pineapple, strawberries, apples and cantaloupe on skewers. You can offer a store-bought dip for your fruit selections, or make a fruit dip using Paula Deen's recipe from the Food Network.

Dessert

A cake is a traditional dessert to celebrate your baby's baptism. For brunch, however, you might want to choose a few more breakfast-friendly options. Pastries and muffins are perfect accents to your baby's baptismal cake.

Drinks

Offer your guests an array of juices, such as orange, apple and cranberry. Brew a pot of coffee as well. If you'd like to offer an alcoholic option, mimosas and Bloody Marys are traditional brunch cocktails. You can also offer an alcoholic or non-alcoholic sparkling fruit punch.
