Make Delicious Homemade Chili

Make a batch of chili.

Chili is a versatile dish, generally composed of ground meat, beans, canned tomatoes or sauce, green peppers, onions, a hot pepper or two, cumin and chili powder. Texas-style chili does not include beans or tomatoes. Any other vegetables can be added, such as corn or carrots, and any type of meat can be used. You can also make meatless chili. It can be made as hot or mild as you wish. But the most delicious chili you can make has a variety of spices to provide depth and flavor.

Instructions

1. Heat 2 tsp. oil in a deep skillet. Saut the chopped onion and garlic until they are soft.

2. Add the ground beef. Break up the pieces and brown them. Drain off the fat.

3. Add the tomatoes in puree and the coriander, cloves, allspice, oregano, brown sugar, chili powder and cumin. Stir and heat the mixture until it bubbles. Reduce the heat, cover the skillet and simmer for 30 minutes.

4. Add the cooked kidney beans and chopped jalapeno and green peppers. Cover the skillet and simmer the chili for 20 minutes more.
