The key to a cold keg is a dark trash can. Make your next kegger a success by keeping your keg cold with these tips.
Instructions
1. Go to home improvement store and purchase a new 55 gallon trash can (preferably one in a dark color).
2. Remember to bring proper identification to rent a keg from your local grocery store, convenience store or liquor store. At the same time, purchase eight bags of ice. Be sure to bring a vehicle big enough to transport the keg and all the ice.
3. Determine where you are going to house your keg and place your new 55 can in that location. Place a layer of ice at the bottom of the trash can about 4 inches thick (roughly 3 bags of ice). Make sure the kege location is right for your event, because once you get the ice loaded in the can it makes it much more difficult to move.
4. Place your keg gently in the trash can on top of the layer of ice. The keg should be in the center of the can so you can add several more bags of ice all around the keg. Store any remaining ice in your cooler for use later.
5. Pour just enough water in the trash can to make the ice wet. Make sure that the keg is not taller than the top of the trash can to ensure optimum cooling.
6. Replenish the can with more ice from your remaining bags after about an hour.
