Replace Wine In Sangria

Sangria is a refreshing summer cocktail, perfect for all outdoor occasions.

Sangria is a wine punch, originating in Spain and Portugal, which uses red wine, fruit and other ingredients. Traditionally it has a sweetener, such as honey or sugar, and a spirit, most commonly brandy, added to it. Modern variations use lemonade and forgo the brandy and sweetener. There are some people who do not drink and so a non-alcoholic sangria can be made as a refreshing alternative.

Instructions

1. Pour the non-alcoholic wine or red grape juice into a large jug leaving space for lemonade, fruit and ice.

2. Cut up seasonal fruits and add to the drink. Oranges, apples, berries and citrus fruits can all be added. Remember to remove all pits and seeds before putting them in the jug.

3. Place a cinnamon stick and some cloves in the jug. This is not necessary, but makes the drink more interesting.

4. Leave the drink to settle in the fridge for an hour so it takes on the flavors and then remove the cinnamon and cloves.

5. Top the jug with lemonade and stir well. Just before serving add ice to the jug.
