50e47140 white rodgers blinky red light

50E47-140 White Rodgers - Blinky Red Light

Sorry to dredge up a SUPER old post, but I have a similar unit, with a somewhat similar problem. My furnace stopped working, so I popped off the cover and took a look around. I noticed my 50E47-140 W-R had it's red light blinking, but I don't have the repair manual and I'm not entirely sure where to get it, so before calling anyone about it, I tried simply turning it off and turning it on again. After the unit started up again, everything was fine. No blinky light and it went back to heating the house, but now, it will randomly stop heating again (still going, but not actually providing any heat) until I turn it on and off again. I'm more than likely going to give the wiring a test as was mentioned earlier, but I thought I'd ask here first and see if what I'm describing might indicate a faulty unit or faulty wiring before even going out and getting a volt meter or anything like that. I originally added this to: Is there a different between 50E47-140 White Rodgers vs 50E47-150 White Rodgers I apologize for posting on an old post, but thought perhaps I might get the attention of people who seemed knowledgeable about my situation without much hassle. So now I clutter your forum with it's own separate post. Thanks guys 3 The White Rogers manual is available at: http://www.white-rodgers.com/wrdhom/.../0037-4836.pdf Intermittent problems are the bain of repairman. What you should do is take the cover off the furnace and have someone turn up the thermostat. Carefully observe the sequence of events that takes place when the furnace turns on correctly. Continue to cycle the furnace on twenty or thirty times and observe that sequence until it fails to light properly. Report the correct sequence here and then the sequence when it failed to light properly. So, I go to give this a try, and the furnace is no longer working at all now. Where, before it, would work after a reset, it now seems that the ignition sequence is not being completed. I see the flames in the burner chamber (? forgive my lack of knowledge about my furnace, this is the first time I've every dealt with one personally), I hear some clicks, which I assume is the ignition sequence, and I feel a little bit of heat going through the ducts, but it quickly fades and it attempts the ignition sequence again. Flames in the lower chamber, and a couple clicks, a little heat, then nothing. I've turned and left the unit off now, and am thinking of just calling a repair man, but I wouldn't mind a) understanding a bit more about what's going on, and b) know if it's something I can personally fix, relatively easily. I'm unsure of the model furnace I have (GUA Series Deluxe Energy Saver Forced Draft Upflow Gas Fired Furnace is the majority of the information I have :P), but I've looked for some basic trouble shooting information, and wouldn't mind some advice from another human. The -140 -150 models are both obsolete. About 1/2 way down this page is information on the -843 Universal replacement module. Furnace Controls Toward the bottom of the installation instructions there is a key to the blink code. I'm not sure if it is the same as that on the -140 or not but I suspect it is. EDIT: I found a troubleshooting guide for the 50E47-140 here: http://www.emersonclimate.com/Docume...pg0278_281.pdf Thanks Grady! The trouble shooting guide may come in handy. I left the unit powered off over night, and today wiggled all the wires, made sure nothing was loose and turned her back on and she's chugging away, heating the house again. So far no problems. If it ends up shutting off again, I'll give SeattlePioneers suggestion a try to see what range is causing her to get kicked off. Thanks for the support guys, I appreciate you putting up with me
