Install Allure Vinyl Tile Flooring
Allure vinyl tile flooring is produced by Trafficmaster Flooring and is sold exclusively at Home Depot. This product is designed to offer the look of vinyl tile combined with easy installation. Allure vinyl requires no glue or adhesives, and comes in planks that each contain three tiles. This flooring can be installed by the average DIY homeowner in just a few hours, and requires only basic tools and equipment.
Instructions
1. Measure your floor using a tape measure. Multiply the length and width of the space to determine square footage. Add ten percent to this figure to account for cutting and installation mistakes. The extra material can also be stored to allow for future repairs and maintenance.
2. Purchase your material at Home Depot. Allow the vinyl to sit in the room where it will be installed for at least 48 hours. This will allow the flooring to acclimate to the room's temperature and humidity levels.
3. Leave a one-eighth inch gap along each wall as you install the vinyl. Place the first row of vinyl on the floor. Butt each plank end to end, placing the top connector over the bottom one and smoothing the joint by hand.
4. Connect the second row of flooring. Hold the plank at a 45-degree angle to the first and align the connectors. Press the plank down so it lays flat on the floor, making sure it is tightly butted against the adjacent row.
5. Cut the planks using a utility knife and a straight edge. Cut on a hard, flat surface, but do not use the vinyl you already installed as a cutting surface.
6. Stagger the joints along each row for a more stable installation. This can be done by cutting the planks along the grout lines, and mixing full planks with cut ones.
7. Install trim or vinyl base around the perimeter of the room to cover the 1one-eighth inch expansion gap and complete the project.
Tips Warnings
When installing Allure vinyl flooring over an existing ceramic floor, cover the ceramic tile with an embossing leveler first so the texture of the ceramic won't show through.
