Ignition Key? Craftsman SnowBlower

Can you by-pass the ignition key on a snowblower. The wire/connection hanging of the back of the cylinder broke off tonight. The cylinder itself is set into the carb shroud. If I can't, where does the other end of the wire install onto?? Changed the coil tonight-all went well. The old one was done. I could only get 6.88 ohms out of it. Too low according to the manual / 7.8-13.5 is what's needed. At least i can still laugh!! Lot's of fun, Mike. If this is a Tecumseh engine, I think you will have the switch with the plastic key, right. If so, the key only opens the ground contacts in the switch. One wire comes from the coil, or points, the other goes to ground on the engine. It will run with the switch disconnected, but if it doesn't have a switch on the throttle (most newer tecumsehs do) you won't be able to shut it off. Roger Thanks, that is what I thought. just wanted to confirm.
