Troubleshooting a Gas Boiler / Pilot Light Issue?

Hello, This might be an easy question for most here to answer. I have experience with continuous pilots but not with direct ignitions so I hope that someone could guide me in the right direction. I have a Smith Boiler (GB100W) that has a direct ignition pilot light. Using a White Rodgers 36E gas valve. This boiler has worked so far this season up until yesterday when all of a sudden the burners wouldn't fire up. Inspecting the boiler everything appears okay. It's getting electricity when the thermostat is adjusted on/off. The water pump is flowing water. The gas line is open and I do not smell any gas leak whatsoever. I am perplexed as to what is the matter. I reviewed the manual and attempted to relight the pilot. Turned it off, waited 5mins to purge the gas line, turned the thermostat back on. But to no avail. In case the system locked up, I followed the manual's instructions to reset it (which is to interrupt the electric to the machine and restart it). Repeated the pilot light steps again and still experiencing the same issue. Last resort is to call a service technician, but that's going to cost $85 just for them to come out to the house; it'd be silly if its something that could easily be fixed DIY. So here I am asking for any assistance. Thank you greatly for your time. -Jason Okay thought I'd follow up on this inquiry. Had a contractor/neighbor who hit a reset button on the rollout switch. He mentioned that if the temp hits above 350degrees it trips the switch which then kills the valve as a safety measure. Simple fix indeed. If that is indeed what happened then watch as the boiler lights to see if you get any flame roll out that may be tripping that sensor. You may want to check for dusty burners and clean. This can contribute to roll out. Also check venting issues.(vent resrticted..birds nest ect...). This can be a serious issue and make sure you co2 units are working. You would not want to wake up dead. Mike NJ Yeah, resetting the rollout switch is NOT a 'fix'. It's a reset of an important safety device. Mike is absolutely correct, you MUST investigate WHY it tripped!
