Gifts For Charity

Giving a gift to charity is giving a gift that counts.

Giving a gift to charity can be a wonderful way to give back to your community. It doesn't take much for a gift to charity to mean something, as long as your intentions are good. Your gift will be appreciated by the one receiving it. A gift to charity can include donating items that you no longer use or have replaced, such as an old computer or clothes.

Clothing

Clothing can be the gift that may brighten up someone's day, whether he is homeless and living on the street or in a shelter. Donating clothes that you don't wear anymore or that don't fit can make a suitable gift for a charitable organization of your choice. Donate clothing from family and friends, kids' clothing and baby clothing.

Old Computers

Instead of recycling your old computer, donating it to charity programs like after-school programs for underprivileged youth in communities that need it might put your computer to better use. Regardless of the type of computer, a charity donation of a computer can also be used as a tax benefit.

Money

Think about donating money to your favorite charity or maybe one that you haven't donated to yet. There are millions of charities that could definitely use more help. You can donate to children's organizations or organizations for diseases like the American Cancer Society, the American Heart Association or the American Diabetes Association.

Coats and Blankets

Especially in the winter, coats and blankets make suitable gifts for charity. Check to see if any local organizations in your community offer coat drives or clothing drives that give all donated material to charitable organizations. Donate your old blankets, sweatshirts, winter coats and jackets. Keeping someone warm is a great way to help someone out.

USO Care Package

Sponsor a USO Care Package and include your personal message to let them know that there are people who care. Send a batch of your famous cookies to be delivered to an American service member who is stationed abroad. This will definitely put a smile on someone's face and makes an appropriate charitable gift.
