Tips For A Wp65w Waterpik

Use a water flosser to promote a healthier smile.

Waterpik offers six different tips for its water flosser machines. However, the WP-65W is only compatible with three of them. When you purchase the Waterpik WP-65W, the water flosser comes prepackaged with one classic jet tip, one Pik Pocket tip and one tongue cleaner. You can purchase additional tips for the family or replacement tips separately.

Getting Started

The Waterpik Water Flosser console has holes on its base for storing tips in an upright position. A tip consists of a neck, a colored ring and a indented end. To insert the tip into the handle, pull the knob on the back of the handle toward the hose. Press the tip into the hole at the end of the handle until the ring is flush with the top. Release the knob. Either turn the water flosser on and press the pause button or leave the Waterpik off before inserting the tip into your mouth. If this is your first time using a Waterpik, start with the pressure on low. Once you have been acclimated to the Waterpik, adjust the pressure to where you feel comfortable.

Classic Jet Tip

The classic jet tip produces a thin stream of water used to floss between teeth and remove plaque at the gum line. Insert the tip into your mouth and turn on the water flow. Lean over the sink and open your mouth just enough to let the water flow out without spraying water. Start at the back of the mouth and work toward the front. Place the tip at a 90-degree angle to the gum line and work forward. Work until you have flossed the upper, lower, front and back gum lines. If you begin to feel overwhelmed by the amount of water in your mouth, pause the Waterpik and spit before continuing. Replace this tip every six months.

Pik Pocket Tip

Waterpik designed this tip for delivery of water or anti-bacterial solutions into periodontal pockets caused by crowns or infections. This tip is not intended for general use. Do not use this tip without the supervision of a dentist. Hold the tip at a 45-degree angle to the gum line. Gently insert it beneath the gum and into the periodontal pocket. Turn the Waterpik to its lowest setting. Do not increase the pressure as it may cause bleeding and will shorten the life of the tip and handle. Work slowly along the gum line, remembering to keep the tip beneath the gum and not spraying only the tooth enamel. Replace this tip every three months.

Tongue Cleaner

Waterpik designed this tip to help eliminate bad breath. Lean over the sink. Stick your tongue out and place the tip at the back center of the tongue. Turn the Waterpik on and begin pulling the tip slowly toward the front of your tongue. Pause the water pressure. Repeat for either side of the tongue. Replace this tip every six months.

After Use

Remember to empty the water flosser's reservoir before storage. If you use a mouthwash or antibacterial solution to clean your teeth, run a full reservoir of water through the handle and tip before storage. This will increase the longevity of the machine and prevent sticky residue inside the tip and hose. Remove the tip by pressing down on the knob and pulling the tip free of the handle. Store the tips in the holes provided on the machine.
