For birthday parties or a fete to celebrate a major achievement, there's no shortage of places for kids to party in Charlotte.
Ray's Splash Planet
For a fun-soaked party, try Ray's Splash Planet, an indoor water park. They offer a choice of three party packages: the Splash Bash, the Splash Bash Deluxe and the Splash Bash Theme. Each party includes two hours of water park play and an hour celebration in the party room for 12 children. The basic Splash Bash requires the host to provide food, cake and decorations. However, the Splash Bash Deluxe includes a cheese pizza, drinks, cake, utensils and decorations. Up the ante by choosing the Splash Bash Theme and receive the Splash Bash Deluxe with a party theme, such as Hello Kitty or Spiderman. There is an additional charge for each additional guest and the maximum amount of guests allowed is 30. Advise your party guests to bring their own towels, as Ray's only sells towels.
Ray's Splash Planet is located at the Irwin Avenue Open Elementary School campus. Ray's is open year-round, Monday through Friday from 10 a.m to 7:30 p.m., Saturday from 9 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Ray's is closed Thanksgiving Day and Christmas Day. Reservations are required and, due to the park's popularity, should be made at least two months in advance.

Discovery Place and the Charlotte Nature Museum
Treat your kids to a party where they can explore fun science concepts at the Discovery Place and the Charlotte Nature Museum. The museum offers four different party options: Watch Me Glow, Playing With Your Food, Magic of Science and Cosmetics Chemist. The first two parties are for ages three and up. Watch Me Glow teaches kids how things glow in the dark, while Playing With Your Food lets kids experiment with marshmallows and ice cream. The Magic of Science party is for ages five and up and teaches kids magic tricks performed with science concepts. Finally, the Cosmetics Chemist is for ages six and up and teaches kids create their own makeup. The parties last 90 minutes, with the first 60 minutes dedicated to experiments and the last 30 minutes for cake and presents. The party packages are for groups of up to 23 guests and include museum admission, cake, lemonade and party favors for each guest, plus decorations for the party room. Hosts get a choice of birthday cake options, but have the option of bringing their own.
Discovery Place is located in uptown Charlotte and is available for parties seven days at week. Parties can be held in the party room Monday through Friday from 3 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and Sunday from 12:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Reservations are required.

Inner Peaks Climbing Center
Are the kids so bored they're nearly climbing the walls? If so, treat them to a party where they are encouraged to literally climb walls at the Inner Peaks Climbing Center. Inner Peaks has three party options: Rock'in Birthday Party, Rock'in Peak Party and Peak Party for Teens. Each party lasts roughly two hours. The Rock'in Birthday Party is for kids ages five to 11. They will receive supervised climbing lessons for an hour and a half, with the last half hour dedicated to the cake and party. Inner Peaks provides drinks, party paper products, a t-shirt for the birthday child and free visit passes for all guests. There is one instructor for every five children. The Rock'in Peak Party is for ages 12 and up, with one instructor for every 12 children. For a simple party for the 12 and older set, the Peak Party for Teens allows teens a supervised climb of a rope system.
Inner Peaks is located in the rear of Greylyn Business Park and is open Monday through Friday from 12 p.m. to 10 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday from 12 a.m. to 7 p.m. Reservations are required.
