Take Down Levolor Blinds

Levolor blinds are easy to remove.

Levolor makes vertical and horizontal blinds. The method for removing each is similar: Remove the valances, blinds, headrail and brackets. If you plan to move your Levolor blinds from their old location to a new one, it is important to take them down correctly. As you remove each piece of the blinds, be sure to keep track of it. Place small pieces in a plastic bag. Wrap blinds and valances in rubber bands so that they don't get damaged or separated.

Instructions

1. Remove the tilt wand. Unhook the tilt wand from the s-hook that attaches it to the blinds. Slide the sleeve that covers the s-hook up. Pull the s-hook out of the tilter stem.

2. Remove the brackets that hold the blinds permanently in the down position (if present). Unscrew the screws that hold them to the wall. Then pull them off of the end of the blinds, followed by the pin holding them in place.

3. Pull the blinds into the up position.

4. Unhook the valance from the valance clips. Then pull the valance clips from the front of the headrail.

5. Remove the headrail. Lift the tabs in the mounting brackets that grip the headrail. Then pull the headrail straight forward, out of the mounting brackets.

6. Unscrew the center and end mounting brackets from the wall.

Vertical Blinds

7. Remove the valance. Pull the corner caps from the corners of the valance (If you have outside or executive valances). Then pull the valance fabric out of the valance mounting tabs. Finally, pull the valance mounting tabs out of the headrail.

8. Remove the blinds' vanes. If you have fabric-covered vanes without sewn-in weights, first unclip the chain connecting the weight in each vane. Then remove the weight from the bottom of each vane. Then slide each vane out of its clip.

9. Pull the autowand out of the headrail (if present).

10. Unsnap the headrail from the mounting bracket.

11. Unscrew the headrail's mounting brackets from the wall.
