How Do You Remove Mini Blinds

One way to change the look of your windows is to replace the mini-blinds. Mini-blinds install a couple of different ways, so removing them depends upon the manufacturer. The less expensive standard mini-blinds simply sit inside two end brackets that form a box around the ends. More expensive mini-blinds snap into channels under the end brackets. This type often appears not to be held by anything.

Instructions

1. Disconnect the bottom rail of the mini-blind from the lower retainers, if your mini-blinds use the retainers. Push the bottom rail to one side to unhook one end and move the rail to the opposite side to unhook the opposite end. Raise the mini-blind fully with the pull cord. Remove the screws securing the bottom retainers to the wall with a Phillips-head screwdriver.

2. Place a stepladder under the center of the mini-blind. This will help you to reach both sides without over-extending yourself. Look at the end caps on each end of the mini-blind. Slide the small square off the face of the end cap with your thumbs, if the end caps have square covers. Grasp the blind top rail and pull the blinds straight out of the end brackets.

3. Grasp the blind top rail from underneath, if you do not have end brackets with covers. Hold the rail at both ends so that your thumbs are behind the rail, and your fingers are on the face of the rail. Press the back of the rail toward you with your thumbs while pulling the rear of the rail down. This unsnaps the rail from the back of the end-cap channel.

4. Roll the back of the rail toward you to unsnap the front of the rail. Remove the blinds from the window. If you have long blinds, there may be a small center clip. Unhook the blind rail from the center clip as you remove the blind.

5. Remove the screws securing the end brackets and center bracket with the Phillips-head screwdriver.
